Correlation between Anaemia and Hepcidin-25 and Interleukin 6 Levels in Early Stage and Advanced Chronic Renal Disease

DOI:
10.7727/wimj.2015.338
Synopsis:
This manuscript examines the correlation between anaemia and hepcidin-25, interleukin (IL 6), C-reactive protein (CRP), Hs CRP, iron, other iron parameters in chronic renal disease. In patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD), there are alternative tests available that may provide a diagnosis of iron deficiency but they are not widely used in practice.

ABSTRACT

Background: Anemia is very commonly seen complication in the patients with chronic renal disease (CRD). This is thought to result from decreased renal excretion of the hepcidin and chronic inflammatory process. Our study aimed to investigate the correlation between hemoglobin (Hb) and hepcidin levels in all stages starting from stage 2 CRD.
