The 2019 Hurricane Season Forecast and the FST

This year when you hear the forecast for the 2019 Hurricane season (the first one has just been released https://tropical.colostate.edu/media/sites/111/2019/04/2019-04.pdf ) stop for a moment to recognize that a Caribbean national (and UWI FST alum for the first time) is helping in its production. Jhordanne Jones a BSc and MPhil graduate from Physics is one of the co-authors of the Colorado State University 2019 hurricane season forecast. Jhordanne is currently a Fulbright scholar working with Professors Bell and Kltozbach who currently coordinate the forecasts which were begun over 30 years ago by Professor William Gray. The forecasts are every year first issued in April and subsequently updated in June, July and August. While at UWI, Jhordanne was an active member of the Climate Studies Group, Mona (CSGM). FST is proud of our alumni who continue to make waves worldwide.
