The Convent of Mercy Academy “Alpha” was delighted to welcome Mr. Dudley Williams, graduate student in the Department of Physics, Faculty of Science and Technology, The University of the West Indies and a highly knowledgeable professional in renewable energy and electronics, on January 23, 2026, as a guest judge for its internal STEAM project showcase. Mr. Williams was invited for his breadth of knowledge and enthusiasm for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) education.
As part of preparations for the Ministry of Education, Skills, Youth and Information (MOEYI) STEAM Expo Competition, students from First to Third Form developed creative and research-driven projects, three of which were selected to advance to the national competition.
During the judging process, Mr. Williams reviewed the student projects, engaged in meaningful discussions with the participants, and offered constructive feedback in line with STEAM principles. His insights helped students better understand their projects and inspired them to think critically about practical applications.
The school was honoured to benefit from Mr. Williams’ involvement, which enriched the students’ learning experience and supported the development of Jamaica’s future innovators through active participation in national STEAM initiatives.
