The International Marine Science Conference on the IOCARIBE convened the International Marine Science Conference on IOCARIBE GOOS and the 17th session of the IOC of UNESCO Sub-Commission for the Caribbean and Adjacent Regions respectively in Bogota, Colombia, over the period 8 May 2023 and 9 – 11 May 2023. Jamaica’s representative was Ms. Monique Curtis, Manager – Ecosystems Management Branch, National Environment and Planning Agency, alternate representative to IOCARIBE. Among the work she presented on behalf of Jamaica was research on the potential use of Sargassum and the work being conducted by Dr. Marcia Ford-Creary of the Centre of Marine Sciences on ocean acidification.
