Geologist Finds Fault Zone in Jack’s Hill

There is a fault zone in the community of Jack’s Hill, St. Andrew, which is 1.5 to 2.5 kilometres wide.

A fault is a fracture, or zone of fractures, between two blocks of rock, and the blocks move relative to each other. The revelation of this fault zone was made by geologist, Professor Simon Mitchell while speaking recently on Nationwide. He says that though the ordinary Jamaican may not readily know how to properly assess the land on which they intend to erect a house, there are some fundamental principles to consider.
