The University of the West Indies, Mona, regrets to inform you that our former colleague, Dr. Trevor Yee, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, 2023.

Dr. Yee joined The University of the West Indies Mona in 2001 as the Director of the Natural Products Institute in the Faculty of Science and Technology. He was a notable researcher who conducted studies on plants having economic value and made substantial contributions to the field of natural product chemistry and its application. He was awarded the Bronze Musgrave Medal from the Institute of Jamaica and the Minister's Award for Innovation from the Ministry of Science, Technology, Energy, and Mining for his research findings.

Dr. Yee was also a long-time member and Past President of Jamaica's Natural History Society. He retired from The University of the West Indies in 2014. 

In light of his death, The UWI flags will be flown at half-mast on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, and on the day of his funeral on Thursday, July 6, 2023.  His funeral service will be held at the Holy Cross Catholic Church, at 10:30 a.m.

The University extends condolences to the family and friends of the late Dr. Yee.
