Teacher’s Day Highlights 2026 – Celebrating Legacy and Service | Professor Mona Webber

In observance of Teacher’s Day on May 6, 2026, the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) at The University of the West Indies, Mona, celebrated the dedication, commitment and passion of its teaching staff whose work continues to shape lives and contribute meaningfully to national development.

The Faculty recognised the invaluable role lecturers and educators play in supporting student growth through their patience, guidance and unwavering commitment to academic excellence. Their efforts continue to make a lasting impact not only on students, but also on the wider society through teaching, mentorship and service.

This year’s observance also served as a special opportunity to honour Professor Mona Webber as she demits office as Head of the Department of Life Sciences. Throughout her tenure, Professor Webber provided dedicated leadership while championing teaching, research and environmental stewardship within the Faculty and beyond.

Widely respected for her expertise, mentorship and longstanding contribution to academia, Professor Webber has played an important role in advancing the work of the Department and supporting Faculty initiatives over the years. Her leadership, experience and commitment to student and staff development have left a lasting impact on the Faculty community.

The Faculty of Science and Technology extends sincere gratitude to Professor Webber for her outstanding leadership and continued service, and joins in celebrating her contributions on Teacher’s Day 2026.
