On March 18, 2026, the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST), The UWI Mona, was pleased to host a visiting delegation from Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands) for a strategic meeting at the Dean’s Conference Room.
The Van Hall delegation included: Karen Batjes-Sinclair, lecturer, International Development, Alwin Hylkema, Associate Lector Coastal Ecosystem Restoration, Jannet Lavalette, Manager International Affairs, Niek de Boer, Director of Research, Andre Dijkstra, lecturer, Coastal and Sea Management, and Janneke Ottens, Lecturer Coastal and Marine Systems.
They met with colleagues across FST and affiliated Centres, including Dale Webber (Centre for Marine Sciences), Thejani Delgoda and Ina Vandebroek (Caribbean Centre for Research In Bioscience, CCRIB), Elecia Myers (Resource Mobilization Officer), and Michael Taylor (Dean, FST).
Discussions explored shared priorities in coastal systems, ecosystem restoration, and sustainable development, identifying opportunities for research collaboration, academic exchange, and joint innovation.
