UWIDEF Funds FST Cancer Research

On Friday, December 6 the UWI Development and Endowment Fund (UWIDEF) awarded the Natural Products Institute (NPI) within the Faculty of Science and Technology with a grant to fund research in cancer using Jamaican indigenous products. The beneficiaries of the award also included Student Welfare and Housing arms of the University which was received by Ms Christina Williams, the UWI Mona Guild President-Elect. The total amount awarded was JMD$3.5 million. 

The Hon. D. H. Lalor, OJ (Chairman of UWIDEF) hands cheque for 3.5 million Jamaican dollars to Prof. Dale Webber, Principal of The University of the West Indies, Mona towards Student Housing, Welfare and Research. He is accompanied by Mrs. Carla Seaga, Executive Director of UWIDEF (far left), the Dean of the Faculty of Science and Technology, Prof. Michael Taylor (far right) and NPI representatives Kimberley Foster and Danisha Wright.
