During the period January 13-17, 2020, the Department of Chemistry held another successful series of workshops on the applications of spectroscopy and chromatography in chemical analyses, as part of the requirements of Caribbean Advanced Proficiency Examinations (CAPE) in Chemistry (Unit 2). A total of 972 students and 56 teachers from 51 schools participated.  The short lectures and laboratory hands- on- sessions focused on Ultraviolet and Visible Spectroscopy, Mass Spectrometry and Chromatography. The short lectures were delivered by Drs Michael Coley, Marvadeen Singh-Wilmot, Ms Nijole Young and Mrs Samantha Brown-Dewar. The laboratory sessions were guided by a team of our graduate students. Based on the feedback from teachers and students, the workshops very extremely beneficial and they were very grateful to the Department for its assistance.
