Congratulations to Professor Paul Reese (Department of Chemistry, The UWI Mona) on being conferred with the title of ‘Professor Emeritus’. Prof. Paul Reese, has served The University of the West Indies, Mona (The UWI Mona) with distinction for 37 years.  He has had an illustrious career in academia and has made significant contributions to teaching, research, and administration in the Faculty of Science and Technology and by extension the wider University.

Prof. Reese is a prolific researcher who has made notable impact in the field of Bio-organic Chemistry. His impressive track record of 56 papers in international refereed journals, five in local journals, and three book chapters, along with three international patents highlight his extensive research experience and expertise. Furthermore, his supervision of 15 Ph.D. degrees and two M.Phil. Degrees, along with five ongoing graduate research projects, demonstrate his commitment to mentoring and advancing the next generation of researchers.
In addition to his research accomplishments, Prof. Reese has also held various leadership positions within the Department of Chemistry, the Faculty of Science and Technology, The Mona Campus, and the wider University. These roles include Head of the Chemistry Department, Associate Dean for Graduate Studies and Research, and Dean of the Faculty of Science & Technology. He has also served as the Chair of the Committee of Deans and participated in over 40 faculty, campus, or university committees, showcasing his dedication to contributing to the broader academic community beyond his research endeavours.
