FST Alumna Le-Anne Roper publishes book on climate resilience titled “Building Rock-Solid Resilience to Natural Hazards: The Church Edition”

Le-Anne Roper (BSc Chemistry - Mona, MSc Natural Resource Management – Cave Hill) is a sustainable development professional in Jamaica. Her current role focuses on climate change adaptation and loss and damage in her home country, but she also advocates for small island states as an international climate change negotiator. She has contributed to several published works, including Christian learning resources relating to environmental stewardship and climate change. Through her story titled “The Hourglass is Ticking”, she won an award in the Christian Writers Award- Winning Contest (January 2021). Her new book explores how vulnerable countries and communities are living with the reality that despite the catastrophes of the past and present, the worst is yet to come. But there is hope! We have the power to respond and make positive changes. Building Rock-Solid Resilience to Natural Hazards is designed to help us to do just that. This edition was written primarily for the church but was also designed to be useful and applicable for individuals and entities seeking knowledge and clarity on this important issue. It is also a valuable resource for professionals working in the disaster risk management and climate change fields. This book carefully integrates Biblical precepts and principles with concepts from climate change, disaster risk management, and environmental stewardship to strengthen the case and call for action. It was crafted for easy reading while still maintaining the integrity of the information.

Lee-Anne's book is available for purchase on Amazon.
