Mr. John W. Robinson, FSA, MAAA, FCA, of Apple Valley, Minnesota, is the 2021- 2022 president-elect for the Society of Actuaries (SOA). As the 74th President, he is the first black person to occupy this position. Mr. Robinson’s new portfolio includes him leading the SOA Board of Directors and voting on important strategic decisions with colleagues to ensure they complement the SOA Long-Term Growth Strategy and Strategic Plan. He will officially commence his duties at the 2022 ImpACT Conference, SOA’s annual meeting.
Among his many accolades, Mr. Robinson is a respected global thought and inclusive leader, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) champion, strategic thinker and relationship-builder.
Mr. Robinson graduated from the Faculty of Science and Technology (formerly Natural Sciences) with an Undergraduate Degree in Mathematics. He recently retired as an Actuary with the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
