If you have ever had to use the Inter-Faculty Lecture Theatre (IFLT) on the Mona campus of The UWI then it’s very likely that you met Mr. Newton ‘Courtney’ Lewis. He was the gentleman who always ensured that the IFLT opened and closed on time and that all ran smoothly. All this he did with his characteristic smile and quiet efficiency. After 39 years, 4 months and 24 days, Newton ‘Courtney’ Lewis retired from The UWI at the end of July 2020. Not many can match that record of service. During his time at the University he worked with the Estate Management Department and later the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Science and Technology. The Faculty salutes Newton ‘Courtney’ Lewis and thanks him for his years of service. We wish him the best on his retirement.
