FST Scientist among authors of new IPCC Global Climate Report

On 9 August 2021, the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) presented its report on the physical science basis of climate change. It is the first of three parts that will together form the IPCC's Sixth Assessment Report due to be released in full in spring 2022. The just launched report (Climate Change 2021: The Physical Science Basis) is based on the review of 14,000 scientific studies by 234 authors from 65 countries. Prof. Tannecia Stephenson (Head of the Department of Physics) is one of the authors, and the only Caribbean small island scientist involved in the drafting of the Summary for Policymakers. The report delivers its climate change message with an increased sense of urgency. It suggests that whereas it is still possible to slow the negative climate trend in this century, it requires action now.
