JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation invests in FST Summer Programmes

The JMMB Joan Duncan Foundation has invested J$1.5 million this year in holistic developmental programs benefiting over 200 young individuals in Jamaica. The Foundation partnered with various organizations to support summer initiatives that address the psychosocial needs of the youth. The aim is to foster personal growth, academic excellence, and creative talents. This approach covers arts, sustainability, education, spirituality, and leisure activities. The initiative focuses on the 'whole person,' considering their diverse needs. Among those programmes were JamCoders Summer Camp and Marine Mania hosted by the Faculty and Science and Technology, The UWI Mona. JamCoders summer camp, led by professors from Jamaica (Department of Computing) and the University of California Berkeley, offered algorithm and programming education for high-school students across Jamaica, thanks to Foundation sponsorship. The camp promoted cultural exchange and learning. The program was conceived by musician Chronixx and supported by the C.H.O.R. Foundation. The Marine Mania programme led by the Port Royal Marine Lab praised the Foundation's long-standing partnership for supporting eco-friendly projects and environmental education.
