Dear Students,

It is my pleasure as Dean, to welcome you to our Faculty for the academic year 2021/22. For some of you it is a new experience being at The UWI, for others, you are in the middle of your university sojourn, while still for others this is your finalizing year either as an undergraduate or postgraduate student. Whatever the stage you may be at, we are happy to have you as a part of the Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) family.

Last year, as a Faculty, we had to pivot all our courses to an online mode. Laboratory classes were most impacted. This year we will attempt to return some of those laboratory classes to a face-to-face mode, recognizing that there are some scientific skills that cannot be transferred via online learning. This will require strict adherence to protocols by both staff and students. I have no doubt that we are all up to the task and that together we will work to ensure that the term will progress smoothly and safely. The Faculty leadership also pledges to work even harder to ensure that irrespective of the mode of engagement your experience this year will be a Fulfilling, Satisfying and Transformational one i.e. that you will have a true FST Experience! I encourage you to work with us by being engaged, connected, and involved. Always remember that the entire Faculty team remains at your disposal.
