LECTURER/ SENIOR LECTURER IN GEOGRAPHY

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for the post of:

LECTURER/ SENIOR LECTURER IN GEOGRAPHY
Department of Geography and Geology
(Area of specialisation: Environmental Change, Quaternary Environments)

The successful candidate will be required to:
• Deliver undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the key areas of Environmental Change, Quaternary Environments including Climate Change, Climate Modelling;
• Contribute to introductory and core courses in Geography, including natural hazards;
• Develop a research programme within their area of specialization;
• Supervise postgraduate research and contribute to the wider Geography teaching programme;
• Perform departmental administrative tasks as required by the department;
• Participate in curriculum development and contribute to departmental activities.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• Applicants should have a PhD in Quaternary  Geoscience, Climatology, Physical Geography, or a closely related field;
• Preference will be given to candidates with at least five (5) years’ teaching experience at the tertiary level.

Candidates who possess the following will be at a distinct advantage:
• Certificate in University Teaching;
• Demonstrated record of high quality teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
• Experience supervising graduate students;
• Expertise in climate modelling, data analysis, palaeoclimatology;
• Expertise in GIS and Remote Sensing;
• Evidence of prior grant acquisition;
• Administrative experience within an Academic Institution;
• Evidence of curriculum development (face to face and distance delivery modes);
• Evidence of contribution to the Public Service OR field of study.
