LECTURER/ SENIOR LECTURER IN GEOLOGY

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for the post of:

LECTURER/ SENIOR LECTURER IN GEOLOGY
Department of Geography and Geology

The successful candidate will be required to:
• Teach undergraduate and post graduate courses;
• Develop an active research programme;
• Supervise postgraduate research and contribute to the wider Geology teaching programme;
• Capable of designing and running the geology field programme;
• Carry out administrative duties as required by the department.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• Applicants should have a PhD in Geology, preferably in Structural Geology and Stratigraphy, with a strong background in Geological Field Mapping and appropriate field techniques relevant to the discipline;
• Candidates with an interest in Economic Geology and Sedimentary Geology will also be considered;
• Preference will be given to candidates with at least five (5) years’ teaching experience at the tertiary level.

Candidates who possess the following will be at a distinct advantage:
• Certificate in University Teaching;
• Demonstrated record of high quality teaching at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
• Experience supervising graduate students;
• Evidence of prior grant acquisition;
• Administrative experience within an Academic Institution;
• Evidence of curriculum development (face to face and distance delivery modes);
• Evidence of contribution to the public service OR field of study.
