The successful candidate will be required to:
• Teach Undergraduate and Graduate courses in Medical Biochemistry
• Participate in the training of postgraduate students for the MSc and MPhil/PhD degrees
• Conduct research and publication in the discipline of Biochemistry and related areas
• Contribute to the development of the Biochemistry programme
• Contribute actively to development and affairs of the Department
Essential Qualifications and Experience:
• PhD in Biochemistry with experience in molecular mechanisms of medical relevance that underlie both normal function and disease states
• The ideal candidate should have at least five (5) years’ teaching undergraduate and postgraduate medical, allied health and science students
• Demonstrated scholarly research
Candidates who possess the following will be at a distinct advantage:
• Certificate in University Teaching
• Research and education focus on areas involving the spectrum of structure and function of biomolecules to metabolism
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Oral and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to work with others in a collegial team atmosphere
• A solid publication record
• Ability to attract external research funding
