JOB OPPORTUNITY

Applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals for the post of

Prosector

Department of Basic Medical Sciences-Section of Anatomy
ATS Group –Grade 8 MPN102615

Reporting to the Head of Department, the successful candidate is expected to perform the following duties:

  • Produces detailed and accurate prosections both routine and specialized
  • Prepares prosections for wet displays for Museum and Exhibitions
  • Maintains a supply of prosections
  • Locates and labels prosections for practical exams
  • Assists with the removal of body parts for research and teaching
  • Assists with cadaver preparation and maintenance
  • Develops specialized embalming and preservation techniques in conjunction with the Gross Anatomy team
  • Prepares cadavers for classes
  • Prepares cadavers and human material for cremation
  • Undertakes routine embalming for teaching and research as required
  • Checks regular cadavers in storage identifying any potential threats
  • Assists in training junior Laboratory staff
  • Prepares chemical for embalming
  • Assists with the proper disposal of cadaver trimmings used for burial
  • Supervises Ancillary staff in the Anatomy Laboratory

Skills and Competencies:

  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Possesses the strength to assist with the moving of bodies
  • Excellent skills in dissection of human cadavers

Qualifications and Experience:

  • At least five (5) GCE/CXC subjects including a Science subject and a numeric subject
  • Excellent knowledge of Anatomy
  • Excellent Knowledge in Neuroanatomy
  • At least three years’ relevant experience
