We invite suitably qualified applicants to fill the post of:
                                 Records Management Assistant I (temporary post)
                             Department of Community Health and Psychiatry   
ATS Group (Grade 5) MPN102144

Main Purpose of Job:
To organize, file and ensure proper maintenance of documents, in keeping with the security and confidentiality policies of the department and The University.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures the registration of patients in a timely manner for specific services required
  • Codes (records) diagnoses
  • Assists with maintaining and monitoring of the Alphabetic Master Patient Index
  • Assigns index cards to patients
  • Files index cards
  • Makes appointments and assigns appointment cards to patients
  • Files and retrieves records (dockets)
  • Files lab reports
  • Enters data, from patients’ index cards, on to the computer
  • Maintains and monitors “number-controlled” registers
  • Maintains an active filing system
  • Maintains confidentiality in dealing with patients’ information
  • Registers births and deaths for Kingston 6 and 7

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Five (5) CXC/GCE O’Level subjects including English Language and a numeric subject
  • One (1) year relevant job experience

  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Attention to details and accuracy
  • Excellent Interpersonal skills
  • Excellent Customer Service skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Proficiency in Micro Soft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with Monthly Clinical Summary Reports (MCSR) would be an asset
