The University of the West Indies is pleased to announce that Dr. James Robertson, Senior Lecturer, Department of History and Archaeology, Faculty of Humanities and Education has been promoted to the rank of professor. The promotion comes in the wake of assessment of his academic accomplishments and contribution to his field.

James Robertson attained the Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southampton in 1981 and the Master of Arts (1984) and PhD (1993) History from Washington University, St. Louis.

Professor Robertson joined the staff at the University of the West Indies, Mona in 1995 as a lecturer the Department of History. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2005. His research has clustered around aspects of urban history, cultural history and the stories that communities tell themselves to comprehend their current status.
