Tuition Fees

The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, wishes to advise that all tuition fees for the second semester of the 2004-2005 academic year become due and payable at the start of the semester, i.e. by January 16, 2005. Registration without penalty is allowed up to January 21. Late registration after January 21 is allowed up to January 28, but students are subject to a late registration fee of J$1000 as well as a fine of one (1) per cent on the amount of fees outstanding.

Eleventh International Diabetes Conference

The University of the West Indies Diabetes Outreach Project (UDOP) in association with the Pan American Health Organisation and the Caribbean Food and Nutrition Institute will host the Eleventh International Diabetes Conference from May 3 – 6, next year. The theme of the conference is Diabetes and Aging. Fee Payment Policy

The Finance and General Purposes Committee (F&GPC) of The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus has approved a Fee Payment Policy for students attending the institution.

Graduate-level Course on Copyright Principles and Practices

The Department of Library and Information Studies will offer a Graduate-level Course on Copyright Principles and Practices specifically designed for Librarians and other information specialists. The course is being offered in recognition of the need to establish and maintain a balance between access to information and the protection of the rights of authors and publishers and in response to the increasing need for capacity building in this area.

Holiday Closure

The first semester for the 2004-2005 academic year at The University of the West Indies will officially end on Wednesday, December 22. Finance and General Purposes Committee has agreed that for the upcoming holiday period, the Mona Campus will be closed at 12.30 p.m. on Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24 and on New Year’s Eve, Friday, December 31, 2004.

Proquest Assists CETT

The Joint Board of Teacher Education Foundation and Proquest Information and Learning have signed a Memorandum of Understanding which will allow collaboration between Proquest and the Caribbean Centres of Excellence as well as the provision of technical assistance to the Documentation Centre of the School of Education at the UWI, Mona Campus.

School of Graduate Studies and Research

The School of Graduate Studies and Research at the University of the West Indies invites applications for its Multi-Disciplinary Master of Philosophy or Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Programmes. Persons with a multi-disciplinary research interest that could lead to an MPhil or PhD degree are asked to contact the School and also discuss the idea with a faculty member who will be prepared to act as a supervisor. UWI and SRC Sign Agreement

The University of the West Indies and the Scientific Research Council of Jamaica have signed an agreement which will facilitate collaboration on research between the two institutions. The agreement formalises the working relationship which has existed between the UWI and the SRC and provides a framework for five years of collaboration in the areas of scientific research and training. The agreement will facilitate the exchange of personnel to support training and development of programmes in the two institutions.

UWI Health Centre

Effective Monday, December 20, the Health Centre at the UWI Mona Campus will be suspending its extended opening hours on week days and on Saturdays. This means that the Centre will be closed at 4.30 p.m. on weekdays and will not be opening on Saturdays. The extended hours of 4.30 p.m. – 7.30 p.m. on weekdays and 8.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. on Saturdays will be resumed on January 17, 2005.

11th International Diabetes Conference
