The University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona has appointed former permanent secretary in the Ministry of Industry and Agriculture, Dr Donovan Stanberry as the new Campus Registrar.

The campus registrar is the most senior administrator on the campus, serving as chief administrative officer, chief operating officer and as secretary to all campus committees.

Minister of Finance and the Public Service, Dr Nigel Clarke, says the newly tabled Customs Act is an effort to bring Jamaica's customs procedures into the modern era.

The Government is in discussions with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) for the provision of technical support in building Jamaica’s capacity to commercialise research done by local tertiary institutions.
