Rhoda Reddock is Professor and Head of the CGDS
at the UWI’s St. Augustine Campus. She has a PhD in Applied
Social Sciences from the University of Amsterdam, is an activist
in the Caribbean Women’s movement and a founding member
of the Caribbean Association for Feminist Research and Action
(CAFRA). She has numerous publications including Women, Labour
and Politics in Trinidad and Tobago: A History (1994) which was
named a CHOICE Outstanding Academic Book for 1996; (ed) Ethnic
Minorities in Caribbean Society (1998); (co-edited with Shobhita
Jain) Plantation Women: International Experiences (1998) and (co-edited
with Christine Barrow) Caribbean Sociology: Introductory Readings
(2001). Her research interests include Caribbean women’s
history, race/ethnicity, class and gender and masculinities and
sexualities. In 2001 Prof. Reddock received the 7th Triennial
CARICOM Award for Women and the UWI Vice Chancellor’s Award
for Excellence in Teaching, Research, Outreach and Administration.
