Faith D. Innerarity, currently Senior Director,
Social Security, in the Ministry of Labour and Social Security,
Jamaica and a doctoral candidate in the CGDS, UWI, Mona, gained
her B.Sc in Sociology (Hons) and M.Sc Sociology of Development,
from the UWI, Mona. She has a Post Graduate Diploma in Development
Planning jointly from the Development Study Centre, Israel and the
National Economic Development Institute, Philippines. She has lectured
at the UWI and the Jamaica Theological Seminary and Graduate School.
She has served as Jamaica’s representative to the United Nations
Commission on Social Development, as Vice-Chair of the Commission
representing Latin America & the Caribbean on the Executive
Bureau and Chair of the Commission, and has chaired a number of
international fora on social development issues. She has participated
in, and presented papers at, many United Nations Expert Group Meetings.
She was also part of an international group of experts that assisted
the Government of South Africa in developing its Social Protection
Legislation in the post-apartheid era. Her published works include
articles in the International Social Science Journal and the Planning
Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ) publication, Construction of Gender
Development Indicators For Jamaica (2000).
