Winsome Townsend holds an M.Sc. in Agricultural and Rural Development,
a Postgraduate Diploma in Science Education, and a B.Sc. in
Natural Sciences – Pure and Applied Chemistry. She is
employed to the National Environment and Planning Agency as
its Director of Policies, Programmes and Projects. Previous
to this Mrs. Townsend served at the Jamaica Agricultural Development
Foundation as Research Associate and at the Scientific Research
Council as a Senior Technical Information Officer. She has studied
gender issues in environmental change and her Master’s
Thesis was titled “Identifying the Prospects of an Environmental
Organisation Becoming More Gender Responsive”. Mrs. Townsend
has had vast experience in the fields of project management,
policy analysis and environmental and sustainable development.
She enjoys reading and excursions into the countryside.
