Stringent media laws in Trinidad and Tobago constantly put journalists at risk of facing exorbitant fines and jail time. Whilst many international media organizations lobby publicly, journalists in the local Trinidad and Tobago media landscape are not as vocal about the impact on their work. In the CARIMAC Research Seminar on Wednesday, January 25, Dr. Aurora Herrera will present on “The Controlled Watchdog.” The presentation is based on a study conducted by the presenter that seeks to define journalism culture in Trinidad and Tobago in order to fully grasp how media laws affect it.
