

Kimiko Scott is an Assistant Lecturer at the Caribbean School of Media and Communication (CARIMAC), University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona. Since 2016, she has served the School in various academic capacities, including research assistant, tutor, and adjunct lecturer. In addition to her work at Mona, she has contributed to curriculum delivery at the UWI St. Augustine campus, engaging undergraduate students across several core communication courses. Her teaching practice is supported by a solid foundation in both theoretical and applied aspects of media and communication.
Kimiko’s academic journey began at the College of Science, Technology, and Applied Arts of Trinidad and Tobago (COSTAATT), where she earned an Associate of Applied Science in Journalism and Public Relations, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication. She later completed a Master of Arts in Communication for Social and Behaviour Change at CARIMAC, graduating with distinction and receiving the OCM - Harold Hoyte Scholarship in 2016. Currently pursuing an MPhil/PhD in Communication Studies at UWI, Mona, her research explores the development of on-air identity among radio broadcasters in Trinidad and Tobago. Kimiko’s profile reflects a strong blend of scholarly engagement, professional media experience—including roles as a radio presenter and project manager—and a sustained interest in community-focused communication. Her academic and research interests lie in Social and Behaviour Change Communication, Journalism, Radio Studies, and Communication Theory and Research Methods.
