The Field of Communication Studies continues to evolve and redefine itself globally. Caribbean Scholarship in the area is largely unaccounted for in the published histories of the field. However, our scholars are well known for their contribution to research and reflection in the field, and the University of the West Indies has been granting graduate degrees in Communication Studies since the late 1990s. Where are we now?
Our 7 faculties and 12 professional schools offer more than 200 programmes to some 18,000 graduate, undergraduate and continuing studies students.
The UWI, Mona ranks first in Jamaica among accredited tertiary-level programmes. In 2012, the University was again one of Jamaica’s Top 100 Employers.
