Test Format

Grammar

Candidates will answer alternative/ multiple choice questions on any or all of the following:

  1. Grammar of the Simple Sentence
  2. Grammar of Complex/Compound Sentences
  3. Idiomatic Usage (diction)
  4. Idiomatic Usage (structures)
  5. Writing Mechanics & Spelling

Reading

Candidates will read one or more passages and answer alternative/multiple choice questions concerning any or all of the following: main idea/ secondary ideas; writer’s attitude/tone/primary intention; literal and figurative meaning; explicit and implied meaning; organizational structure.

Writing

  • Task One - Candidates will write a 300 word essay in which they will provide information and ideas on a topic of general interest.
  • Task Two - Candidates will write 250-300 words describing numerical data contained in a table or in some form of graphical illustration.
