This course introduces the basic concepts of atomic and nuclear physics, subatomic particles and the mechanisms involved in nuclear reactions. It establishes basic radiation safety principles and highlights the effects of radiation on the human body as well as introduces students to fundamental principles of nuclear reactor theory and operation.
