Since the beginning of the academic year, inspections carried out by the Sanitation Unit have been continuously revealing that there is a lack of compliance with the Public Health (Food Handling) Regulations within food establishments on the UWI, Mona Campus. One area where there has been a widespread problem is the lack of food handlers permits.
On September 11, 2019 the UWI, Mona launched its Food Establishments and Service Policy (FESP) at the Mona Visitors Lodge and Conference Centre. The Policy is aimed at improving food safety on the Mona Campus, including WJC.
As part of the Mona Campus efforts to increase food safety, the Food Establishments and Service Policy (FESP) was approved at the Finance and General Purposes Committee (F&GPC) meeting of July 1, 2019.
