The Clinical Translational Research Unit (CTRU) within the Dean’s Office of the Faculty of Medical Sciences (FMS) was created to build and support research activities. Translation research, in this context, involves taking the findings of scientific investigations to real life applications with the purpose of improving healthcare.
The purpose of the CTRU is to provide methodological and data analytical support, as well as coordinating the clinical trials data to advance faculty research. The Unit does this by integrating data from:
To support this mandate the CTRU has been engaged in capacity building through the assignment of Research Liaison Officers within each department.
The CTRU is supported by both academic and non-academic staff led by the Deputy Dean of Research.
