Synopsis: 
This study assessed psychiatric patients’ oral health compared to normal controls. Results indicated that decayed, missing and filled teeth (DMFT), temporomandibular joint disorder and scalloped tongue were higher among psychiatric patients.

Co-morbidity of major depressive disorder with alcohol dependence is common in the two major ethnic groups in Trinidad and Tobago. Other anxiety and affective disorders occurred in three per cent or less of patients and controls.
