Gongronema latifolium leaves have been used to manage diabetic symptoms and alleviate dyspepsia. The leaves of Gongronema latifolium increase gastric acid output and prevent gastric ulcer in diabetic rats.

ABSTRACT

Objectives: Gongronema latifolium leaves have been used in folklore medicine to manage diabetes mellitus and alleviate dyspepsia. This study aimed to provide a pharmacological basis to the medicinal use of Gongronema latifolium as an antidiabetic and antiulcerogenic agent in diabetes mellitus.

Hepatocyte Antigen Expression in Subtypes of Intestinal Metaplasia of the Stomach

Objective: Recently, hepatocyte antigen (Hep) was introduced as a sensitive and reliable marker of intestinal metaplasia (IM). However, the distribution of Hep expression in subtypes of IM are not described.

Results of the present study suggest that, in the stomach, hepatocyte antigen expression is a sensitive marker of intestinal metaplasia and the evaluation of the distribution of hepatocyte antigen expression might be useful in the classification of intestinal metaplasia.
