Mr Johann Antoine served as Chairman for the ‘Joint ICTP-IAEA Advanced Workshop on Analytical Techniques for Forensic Science’ held in Italy in May. Given the rich history of nuclear analytical analysis (NAA) in cases including that of the assassination of John F. Kennedy, the workshop aimed to bring practitioners of all techniques (including accelerator mass spectrometry, synchrotron radiation, etc.) to discuss further applications in forensics. Mr Antoine presented a conference publication,(subsequently placed online in the IAEA e-learning platform) on ‘The Application of Neutron Activation Analysis to Forensic Science ’.
The I C E N S h a s s o m e experience in this topic given the work done to identify the recipient beaches of the stolen sand from a beach in Trelawny a few years ago. Present day, Mr Antoine is leading the team in the study and analysis of pharmaceutical products including Viagra as well as Jamaican cannabis. Mr Antoine is also the Chief Scientific Investigator for the Coordinated Research Project,‘Enhancing Nuclear Analytical Techniques to Meet the Needs of Forensic Science’.
