Hailed from the Eastern Caribbean island of Dominica Mr. Sheagan John completed his three-year BSc programme in Mathematics one year early and his MPhil in Mathematics programme one year early, here at the Mona Campus.
Tamrah graduated the University of the West Indies in 2015 with a BSc. Actuarial Science (Hons.) and now holds a Masters in Mathematics. She is currently working as Data Analyst in addition to working on completing her designation as an Associate for the Society of Actuaries.
The Actuarial Science programme at UWI has equipped me with a wide body of industry-relevant knowledge and highly sought after skillsets which have opened many doors for me so far in my career. The training I received at UWI not only helped me to transition smoothly to more rigorous graduate studies at the University of Oxford but also gave me the foundation I needed to mount the curve quickly and function effectively in various roles in the financial industry
The time I spent as a BSc Acturial science student at the Mathematics Department of the University of the West Indies has proven to be one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. The BSc Acturial Science was not only comprehensive as it relates to the wide array of courses in economics, accounting mathematics statistics and computer sciencte that was covered but it has a played an integral role in achieving some of my life changing accomplishments.
Our 7 faculties and 12 professional schools offer more than 200 programmes to some 18,000 graduate, undergraduate and continuing studies students.
The UWI, Mona ranks first in Jamaica among accredited tertiary-level programmes. In 2012, the University was again one of Jamaica’s Top 100 Employers.
