Widely regarded as the gold standard, the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026 (released in October 2025) confirmed that The UWI has advanced within its ranking band, achieving an improved overall score range compared to the previous year.

First year UWI Law Students receive Consolidated Constitution from MoJCA

The University of the West Indies (The UWI), Mona Campus’ Faculty of Law was host this Monday to the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs (MoJCA) who handed over 300 printed copies of the newly consolidated Constitution of Jamaica to first-year constitutional law students. The presentation was made yesterday by Minister of State, Hon. Marisa Dalrymple-Philibert. The President of the Mona Law Society, Malieck Kirton, received the gift of behalf of the students.

Effective 2:00 p.m. today, Thursday, October 23, 2025, The UWI, Mona Campus will pivot to full online operations due to Tropical Storm Melissa.

The One Stop Graduation Photo Centre will close at 2 pm today until further notice.

The UWI Mona Campus Pivots to Full Online Operations

The Management of the Campus met this morning to assess the situation with respect to the approaching
tropical storm. The island is now under a Tropical Storm Warning and Hurricane Watch. Against this
background, effective 2pm today, the Campus will pivot to full online operations.

Consequently, we are asking our Jamaican students on our halls of residence to immediately begin
vacating the halls, given that physical operations on the Campus will be suspended. Regional and
International students will remain on hall.

Nursing students receive laptops from Richard and Diana Stewart Foundation

KINGSTON, Jamaica — Nursing students at the University of the West Indies (UWI) Mona have received 40 new laptops from the Richard and Diana Stewart Foundation to assist with their academic journey.

The handing-over ceremony took place at the Faculty of Medical Sciences on Monday.

Head of the Richard and Diana Foundation, Diana Stewart, commended the students for their dedication and service, describing them as “quiet heroes in moments of crisis”.
