The UWI Mona invests more than JMD$168m in student accommodation experience

As part of a phased campus-wide renovation project to improve the teaching and learning experience of its students, The University of the West Indies (The UWI), Mona Campus, made a significant investment to renovate living facilities at two of its Halls of Residence—Rex Nettleford Hall and AZ Preston Hall—during the summer break. The other five (5) UWI Mona-managed Halls are also scheduled for renovation during the 2024/2025 Academic Year.

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) launched its newest product, the International School for Development Justice (ISDJ), on Wednesday, August 21. The ISDJ is the world's first-ever global business school dedicated solely to online graduate programmes that focus on leadership of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Ms. Leneka Rhoden, a Master of Philosophy student  in Environmental Biology from the Department of Life Sciences, Faculty of Science and Technology, has been appointed to the Deep-Ocean Stewardship Initiative (DOSI) Advisory Board. This appointment, effective April 2024, underscores The University's commitment to fostering global leadership in marine science and environmental sustainability.

AI Workshop Empowers Jamaican Teachers to Harness Artificial Intelligence in the Classroom

Educators from Regions 3 (St. Ann and Trelawny) and 4 (St. James, Westmoreland, Hanover) recently gathered for a ground-breaking workshop aimed at exploring the practical applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the classroom. Hosted by the Faculty of Science and Technology and the Faculty of Humanities and Education at The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, in collaboration with e-Learning Jamaica Company Limited, the workshop provided a platform for approximately 60 teachers spanning infant/basic, primary, and secondary levels.

The Most Revd and Rt Hon Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, has been recognised with an honorary degree from The University of the West Indies (The UWI). On Saturday, July 20, at the University's Regional Headquarters in Jamaica, the Anglican Archbishop was awarded a Doctor of Laws (LLD), during a Special Convocation hosted as part of an itinerary marking the 200th anniversary of the Anglican Diocese of Jamaica and the Cayman Islands.
