The University of the West Indies (The UWI) has formalised a new global partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Breda University of Applied Sciences (BUas) from the Netherlands. This cross-continental academic collaboration was signed into effect by the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Global Affairs at The UWI, Sandrea Maynard, and the President of BUas, Dr. Jorrit Snijder, during a virtual ceremony on November 12.

Professor Charles Grant, Professor of Applied Nuclear Sciences, Director General, International Centre for Environmental & Nuclear Sciences, The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus, has been appointed as a member of the Technical Working Group on Nuclear Power Infrastructure (TWG-NPI) for the 2024-2027 term.

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Halimah DeShong as the new University Director of the Institute for Gender and Development Studies (IGDS). Dr. DeShong began her duties in September and is expected to serve a two-year term.

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) anticipates welcoming the first cohort of Caribbean nationals to its joint Masters in Global African Studies with the University of Johannesburg (UJ).

Some might attribute it to mere coincidence that Mr Courtney Campbell, VM group President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), received an Honorary Doctor of Laws (LLD) degree for his contributions as an Entrepreneur and Philanthropist from The UWI, Mona on the 91st anniversary of his late mother's birth.

The UWI Mona Activates Remote Operations for November 5, 2024

The University of the West Indies Mona. November 4, 2024. Kingston Jamaica: The University of the West Indies, Mona wishes to advise that the campus will be closed to the public on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 due to the adverse weather conditions expected to affect Jamaica.

The UWI, Mona Campus, officially launched the Fiscal Research Centre (FRC) in partnership with the Ministry of Finance and the Public Service (MOFPS), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the University of Ottawa’s Institute of Fiscal Studies and Democracy (IFSD).
