The launch of the 2021 Vincent HoSang University of the West Indies Venture Competition (UWIVC) took place on September 28, 2021 and brought together industry leaders, academic faculty and students with a focus on teaching students how to seize the opportunities amidst the chaos. As the pandemic has reshaped and given birth to new industries, the need for innovative entrepreneurs with agile skills has never been more critical.

Library Open Week 2018: The UWI 70th Anniversary - featured authors

The University of the West Indies, Mona Campus’ Library will launch the sixth staging of Library Open Week (October 25 - 28, 2021) under the theme, Removing Barriers: Strengthening Access.

Seven staff members and one department will be honoured at this year’s Vice-Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence. One of the highlights on the University’s calendar, the Awards recognise high achievement by academic, senior administrative and professional personnel throughout the regional university. The 2020/2021 Awards, which marks the 28th year, will be held virtually—similar to last year’s ceremony—due to regional COVID-19 restrictions and protocols, and will take the total number of awardees to 161.

The Caribbean now has its own Global Institute for Climate-Smart and Resilient Development resourced by leading experts from The University of the West Indies (The UWI) and backed by high profile regional and international partner institutions—the likes of the United Nations Development Programme, Open Society Foundations and Barbados-born, Rihanna’s Clara Lionel Foundation.
