The University of the West Indies (The UWI) Mona Campus is excited to announce its partnership with the VM Group to host its Distinguished Lecture Series for the next 5 years.  While complementing the vibrant scholarly discourse at the department and faculty levels, this Campus-wide initiative establishes an institutional architecture for spotlighting The UWI Mona Campus' academic contributions under a single umbrella, to the broader society. The Launch was hosted at the Faculty of Medical Sciences Teaching and Research Complex on Friday, August 18, 2023.

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) has received financing from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) towards the cost of The University of the West Indies Digital Transformation Project and intends to apply a portion of the proceeds of this financing to eligible payments under a contract for the provision of the following consultancy services.

UWI Senior Lecturer selected by American Association of Geographers for inaugural Elevate the Discipline programme

The American Association of Geographers (AAG)

The American Association of Geographers (AAG) has announced its first-ever cohort of the new “Elevate the Discipline” programme, which will train and showcase geographers in action—in the media, as voices for public policies, and in advocating for change—on this year’s theme of Climate and Society.

The selected participants drawn from across 11 US states and the West Indies represent the rich and diverse range of practice within the discipline, including hydroclimatology, political ecology, climate and health, disaster geography, geoinformatics, soil science, and more.

The UWI’s Faculties of Medical Sciences accredited by CAAM-HP for another 5 years

The University of the West Indies (The UWI) is pleased to announce that its Faculties of Medical Sciences have been successfully accredited for an additional five-year period, from 2023 to 2028 by the region’s accreditation body, The Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and Other Health Professions (CAAM-HP).
 

The UWI signs MOU with the Ghanaian Scholarship Secretariat to provide 25 scholarships

On July, 31, 2023, in their last official act as Principal and Deputy Principal, Professors Dale Webber and Ian Boxill along with Campus Registrar Dr. Donovan Stanberry signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Ghana Scholarship Secretariat which will allow 25 Ghanaians the opportunity to study at The UWI Mona.

Justin Robinson as Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal of its Five Islands Campus, located in Antigua and Barbuda and Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic, Industry Partnerships and Planning. His appointment, which was approved by the University Council on July 17, takes effect on August 1, 2023, thus beginning his three-year term.
