Maximum Tenure:

Three (3) years

Eligibility:

The award is available to Jamaican nationals at the Mona Campus who are:

under 25 years of age;
pursuing an undergraduate degree full-time in an engineering discipline in the Faculty of Engineering.

Criteria:

The award will be based on:

academic performance based on the results of the previous academic year University exams (GPA of at least 3.0);
demonstrable financial need;
involvement in co-curricular activities;
demonstrable community involvement or leadership qualities.

Method of Selection:

Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by a panel comprising personnel from the University and Donor Agency.

The following Terms & Conditions apply:

The recipient must continue to pursue the course of study for which the scholarship was awarded.
If the recipient opts to take a gap year, candidate will forego eligibility for automatic scholarship renewal as stated under ‘Criteria.’

Special Requirements:

Applications will be accompanied by the following documents:

UWI scholarship application;
most recent University transcript (returning students);
CAPE & CSEC scores and high school transcript (new students);
University acceptance letter (new students);
one page (at least 300 words) essay on the candidate’s educational and career goals.
