Reshaping the Future of UWI

A critical step in our transformation journey has been taken. Following a rigorous assessment process by our partners in Operation RTG, a Change Management Committee has been formed to guide the implementation of the best-suited strategy for the future of The UWI, Mona.

Role of the Change Management Committee

The Change Management Committee will play a pivotal role in guiding the transformation process and ensuring the successful implementation of the recommendations from PwC.

Areas of focus:
· Aligning administrative operations with The UWI's overall strategic vision

· Implementing new strategies and approaches to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Leading this charge is Professor Ishenkumba Kahwa, Chairman of the newly established Change Management Committee. Professor Kahwa brings a wealth of experience to this crucial role, having served the University for over 30 years in various capacities, including Deputy Principal. His impressive track record includes leading curriculum reform, spearheading the development of engineering programs, and securing aJ$4 billion revenue from Private Public Partnership (PPP)for new dormitories. In collaboration with several local and international stakeholders he led the development and establishment of a new suite of B.Sc, MSc, M.Phil, and Ph.D. programmes in Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health(OESH).
