Operation Restructuring, Transformation and Growth - Issue 3

We listened. Changes Are Under Way!

RTG Quick Wins Initiative

Members of the RTG Steering Committee were asked to identify the top 3 quick wins or concerns to be addressed. OSPEM applied a prioritization framework to a total of 192 actionable items from the feedback, considering both impact and feasibility. In-depth analysis of the data resulted in various options to address the items. The main approaches:

  • Quick Wins: Achievable with relatively minimal resources and time, high positive impact.
  • Operational-Level Items: Managed by process owners and heads, no RTG support needed. OSPEM will meet with Unit Heads on these before the end of July.
  • High Impact, Low Feasibility: Not feasible currently.
  • Existing Scope: Already included in PwC’s scope.

VMC Process Change Initative

The Campus Registry and Campus Bursary are updating the VMC process to streamline adjunct lecturer approvals. Currently in development, the project aims to provide budgets and new protocols by July 1, 2024. The project is 57% complete and on track, with benefits being highlighted by the process owner.

Expected outcomes: This project will result in more efficient management of the hiring process and cost savings on salary.

Utilities Charge Initiative

The Utilities Charges initiative, led by Mr. Milton Dennis, aims to improve fee collection by addressing faulty or missing meters and capacity limits in commercial entities. Currently in the development stage, the team has prepared a meter report and is expected to complete the project by July 31, 2024. The project is 17% complete and on track. Expected outcomes: Higher revenue generation will result from this project.

Fleet Management Initiative

The Fleet Management initiative, also led by Mr. Milton Dennis, aims to create an inventory of the
current fleet and develop the business case for an optimal fleet management system. Currently in development, it is on track to have the inventory by June 28, 2024. The project is 60% in progress.

Expected outcomes: This project will save costs and bring more efficient management of the fleet of vehicles via a digital system.
