The digital transformation trajectory characterizing education (HE) globally, post-COVID-19 has prompted a shift to a preference for education in a blended mode of delivery. This Blended Learning Challenge aims to distill exemplary practices for cultivating critical blended learning competences in education in keeping with SDG4 (4.3 & 4.7). Participants will compete for very attractive prizes.
For the purpose of this “Challenge” or competition, a starting point to understanding “Blended Learning” will be broadly informed by common instructional modalities such as those used at The UWI: A course which has been designed to intentionally replace some of the face-to-face teaching and learning which takes place in a physical space with teaching and learning in the online environment. In order to qualify as a blended course, at least 1 credit hour (12 contact hours of face-to-face teaching or equivalent) must be replaced with teaching and learning in the online environment (UWI, 2022). However, this understanding can be expanded to include teaching and learning in varied blended contexts across institutions and organizations.
