With an impactful digital footprint across corporate, governmental and academic spheres and through her consultancy and publishing company, R.E.F.I.T, Dr. Raona Williams, is dedicated to driving Caribbean multi-disciplinary intellectualism and economic growth. Dr Willilams' specialist areas are focused around investigating digital transformation developments in vocational and professional education specifically focusing on allied health and creative economies, Technical, Vocational and Educational Leadership/Workforce Development advancements, the future of education using virtual learning technologies and artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML) tools to foster knowledge-economy driven excellence and forward-thinking Caribbean and Global entrepreneurship.
Dr. Raona Williams holds undergraduate, postgraduate and terminal degrees in Physiotherapy, Medical Chemistry and Education Leadership and Management with a specialized focus on virtual learning technologies and the future of education. She also holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Science and Health Education with Qualified Teacher Status. In the UWI Faculty of Humanities and Education, School of Education, she has been involved in the MA TVET Leadership and Workforce Development graduate program for over 10 years and serves as the Coordinator of the Program. She also provides current and past executive council and consultancy services to Ministry of Education (UAE), Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (UK), Jamaica Technology and Digital Alliance (Jamaica) and Caribbean Studies Association.
Dr. Williams serves as an Associate Editor with Frontiers in Education and has over 20 years of teaching experience at the secondary and tertiary levels in the UK, Caribbean, Middle East and North Africa regions. She has also project managed and delivered continual professional development programs to allied health clinicians worldwide to improve clinical practice for newly qualified and advanced practitioners, addressing global challenges in health inequalities, providing future focused strategies to improve clinical practice, taking into account advancements in artificial intelligence and machine learning tools. She is also a collaborative member of the Artificial Intelligence in Education of Oxford University (AIEOU) Research Hub, which unites educators, researchers, and policymakers to study the ethical and responsible use of artificial intelligence in learning, providing interdisciplinary training opportunities to global communities and investigative research to improve educator competencies and output of AI in Education policy recommendations.
Dr. Williams has published mixed methods, qualitative, conceptual research articles and creative education publications (under the pseudonym Dr. Raona Refit) to support individuals and professionals in literacy, international governance, health and educational fields to maximize scholarly progressions, champion equity and economic entrepreneurism across the Caribbean and its diasporic regions alongside the wider Global South.
