The 'dark horse' strikes again

World University Games champion, Gibson Relay record holder, Jamaica national representative and UWI Scholarship Athlete Hansle Parchment is through to the finals of the 110 meter hurdles at the London 2012 Olympic and has another accolade to add to his repertoire. Parchment who was dubbed the 'dark horse' of Jamaica's hurdles was off to a slow start but like a true pelican came back to finish second in his semi-final and subsequently erasing the national record of 13.16 to 13.14sec and also equalling the CARICOM record. This now makes him the fastest Jamaican of all times over the 110m hurdles.

Parchment  is the only UWI student athlete to qualify to represent Jamaica in the Olympics in the 110m hurdlers event. The University of the West Indies, Mona Sports Department congratulates our first time Olympian and first time finalist on achieving this feat.

He will contest the finals of the 110m hurdles this afternoon at 1:15pm (local time) with his chance of snatching a medal even greater.
